Mike Wakerling started roofing in 1974 when he graduated from high school. He went to work for his father in the family business, General Roofing Company. General Roofing was started in 1924 by Mike’s grandfather, and he was the first generation to enter the business. Mike’s son, Shane, is now the fourth generation in the business.

Mike likes to fish in the mountains. He recently took up fly fishing after going on a fishing trip in Flaming Gorge, Utah with fellow board members Ron Lloyd, Jake Magalsky, and Mike’s son Shane. Mike enjoys traveling with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mike likes to ride ATV's in the mountains and the beach. He is also interested in muscle cars from the 60's and 70’s and currently has a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang that he is going to start restoring.

Mike became a Board Member in 2012 and has loved every minute being on the Board. To be able to be a part of the cutting-edge technical work and to put out that information to help and educate the roofing industry, and especially WSRCA members, is a lifelong fulfillment for Mike. To be a part of the WSRCA and be involved in improving the roofing industry, is a passion for him. And to be able to work with fellow Board Members who also share the same goals has been a highlight in his career. To make something better you must give back to it, and that is why Mike became a Board Member.
