    • Roofing contractors and design professionals can and should take advantage of the test data manufacturers collect and are required to provide to the ICC to manufacture code compliant products and systems. Manufacturers test with UL, FM Global, Miami-Dade, FBC, ANSI SPRI ES-1 and other approved third parties and this data can also be used for submittals to confirm system compliance. We will discuss case examples of proper and improper submittals and the resultant affects.

    • While the model code is updated every three years, many jurisdictions “jump” editions, such as from 2009 to 2018. With these adoption approach, some code changes may lack context. In this presentation, attendees in jurisdictions with edition leaps will learn about the edition to edition code developments and get a better understanding of what has changed and the changes coming over the next few years.

    • New TPO roof membranes have been extensively analyzed in laboratories, roof farm fields and under accelerated weathering conditions. Today, there are TPO roofs in the United States that have been in service for nearly 20 years. This paper will review the long term performance of a large sampling of field-aged TPO roof membranes installed throughout the US and evaluate 1) field-aged TPO roof membrane performance and 2) the ability to repair field-aged TPO roof membranes.

    • Wind-uplift resistance of single-ply roof systems installed over existing metal panel roof systems is of primary concern when reroofing a metal building. ASTM E1592 testing was performed on multiple test roofs using a 10ft. x 20ft. full-scale test chamber. The tests consisted of mechanically attached TPO with different fastening patterns over flat stock and flute fill polyiso over 24” wide structural metal panels. The results and analysis of the testing will be presented.

    • Moisture within roof assemblies has become a major focus of discussion. Despite the disruption to projects this issue causes, there remains significant misunderstandings regarding concrete, field moisture tests, and just how long it takes concrete “to dry”. This presentation discusses common terms associated with concrete that are often misused, identifies the various sources of roof system moisture, and gives recommendations as to how the various sources can be proactively addressed.

    • A sure fire recipe for disaster. Mix together one cup novel but unproven solutions with 6 ounces of inexperienced workers, and bake for one hour in an oven of fast paced construction. This presentation will examine how this all too familiar recipe led to three roof projects going wrong. And, hopefully by the end of the presentation, attendees will be equipped to change the recipe and avoid similar problems on their own projects.
